About this journey
Most travellers cross from Serbia to Montenegro in a hurry. This 5-day journey takes the long way — through the Sandžak, past the 13th-century White Angel fresco, into the highest town in the Balkans, and finally down through the Piva canyon to the walls of Kotor.
You will ride the Šargan 8 figure-8 mountain railway, walk the Black Lake at Durmitor, optionally raft the deepest canyon in Europe, and stand at Ostrog where a monastery has been built into a vertical cliff face. The Adriatic at the end is your reward.

Drive south through Serbia plus the figure-8 mountain railway.
The Mileševa fresco then up to Žabljak at 1,450m.
Black Lake morning and choice afternoon with optional rafting.
Piva canyon descent and Ostrog monastery — end in Kotor.
Includes a 3.7 km loop walk at altitude (1,416m) and an optional moderate hike. Žabljak is at 1,450m — guests with serious cardiac or respiratory conditions should consult a doctor before booking.
